163 pages of photocopied documents obtained via the Freedom of Information Act request in November of 2016. The documents are mostly from the Department of Justice and the FBI. -------------------- Photocopy of a declassified report on Keizaburo Koyama. The page states that Koyama entered the United States in December 1918 and that he and his wife have three children. A neighbor, Myron Johnston, noted that Koyama often came home late at night and that his wife and kids attended the neighborhood Methodist Church. Johnston stated the following: that Koyama considered the Japanese-Chinese war to be undiplomatic on Japan's part and that it was not desired by most Japanese; that Koyama's son attended the Japanese language school; that he and Koyama golfed together; that he has never heard Koyama disparaging the United States; that he had been on friendly terms with Koyama. Johnston advised that he would inform the FBI immediately should Koyama behave suspiciously. The report notes that the FBI requested Koyama's apprehension on December 8 and was arrested on December 10, 1941, at 4:00 PM, by the reporting FBI agent and two members of the Portland Police. They searched Dr. Koyama's office and cataloged the evidence they collected. Koyama provided written permission for the search. He was then delivered to Immigrant Inspector Louis C. Hafferman at the U.S. Court House, Portland, at 4:30 PM. He was interrogated by Immigrant Inspector Clarence J. Wise. |
